Contemplation
Inspiration
This is a deeply personal art film inspired by a dark night of the soul. It's a surrealist journey through the subconscious, grappling with the "shackles" of existence—war, greed, inner demons, and the cycle of life and death—in a quest to find a higher self. Its based of an ancient Kemetic text known as the Dialogue Between a Man and His Soul.
What it does
This is a 4-minute experimental art film. It's a non-linear, visual poem that takes the viewer on a journey through a man's mind as he fights for his own soul.
How we built it
This is my most complex piece, blending multiple AI styles (from 2D animation to photorealism) with live-action-style footage. The entire film is structured around a philosophical voice-over I wrote and recorded. The sound design is a dense, multi-layered ambient score.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge was making all these disparate visual styles feel like one cohesive dream. It was a massive editing and sound design task to stitch it all together.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
This film is a complete artistic statement. I'm incredibly proud of the narrative, the pacing, and the final, hopeful message. The blend of 2D, 3D, and live-action aesthetics is a huge accomplishment.
What we learned
By grounding a film in a strong, central theme (the "Contemplation" VO), you can take the audience on a wild, abstract journey and still have it make emotional sense.
What's next for Contemplation This is a standalone, complete short film. It represents the peak of my experimental work so far.
