Inspiration
Construction projects require teams to coordinate schedules, budgets, resources, and site safety. When this information is scattered, identifying delays, cost overruns, and operational risks becomes difficult. I built ConstructIQ to explore how a unified command center could make construction operations easier to monitor and manage.
What it does
ConstructIQ is a construction operations dashboard featuring five role-based views for project managers, site superintendents, financial controllers, safety officers, and executives. It includes an interactive Gantt scheduler, Earned Value Management (EVM) analytics, INR-based financial tracking, a digital punchlist, simulated weather and site telemetry, and automated crane safety shutdown alerts. An optional AI Copilot provides context-aware operational guidance using NVIDIA NIM, with Google Gemini as a fallback.
How we built it
I built ConstructIQ using React 19, TypeScript, Vite, and Tailwind CSS. Recharts powers financial visualizations, while a Node.js and Express backend connects the dashboard to the AI services. Project state and simulated events support interactive monitoring, scheduling, and safety demonstrations.
Challenges we ran into
A key challenge was bringing scheduling, financial analytics, role-specific interfaces, and safety telemetry together into one cohesive experience. Integrating multiple AI providers and designing simulated events that demonstrate operational responses added further complexity.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I’m proud to have built an interactive, multi-role construction operations console that combines project scheduling, financial performance monitoring, quality tracking, safety alerts, and optional AI assistance in one application.
What we learned
This project strengthened my skills in React, TypeScript, full-stack integration, data visualization, API development, and AI service integration. It also taught me how to design a dashboard around different user roles and operational needs.
What's next for ConstructIQ
Future improvements could include integration with real construction-site sensors, live project data, more advanced risk forecasting, enhanced reporting, and additional AI-assisted insights. These improvements could help evolve ConstructIQ from a simulation-focused console into a more practical construction operations platform.
