Overview
"Constellations" is a 4X turn-based strategy board game. It takes full advantage of the augmented reality medium and bring the users a unique experience, only possible on the Quest 3.
The core gameplay loop consists of four main stages: exploration, exploitation, expansion, and extermination. Players explore new stars, use resources to build infrastructure that generates resources later, expand their territory to central stars which hold boons and special abilities and battle with the opponent for economic advantage.
Player victory hinges on how they build the board, move ships between stars, manage resources, and engage in combat. The combat system is an auto-battler style where each round of combat results in a die roll for each ship, deciding the outcome of battles. Conquering an enemy player can either destroy their resource generators or transfer them under your control. Player's goal is to snowball small advantages into a decisive economic advantage.
Features:
- Moving and resizing the board by using rock gesture on both hands
- Rotating the board via rock gesture on one hand
- Hand menu from which ships can be taken and placed onto the board
- Dragging a ship away from it's star shows a "Explore" text, upon release a new star is discovered.
- Moving discovered star around within the constraint of it's connection
- Multiple distances of connections, locking is done by selecting the connection.
- Dragging ship inside of a newly discovered star to colonise it.

Future outlook
Different modes of play:
- 1v1, 2v2 multiplayer
- 3vAI co-op
- solo vs AI campaign
The project aims to introduce a variety of ship types, infrastructure types, star types to add complexity to the game whilst keeping it accessible. The entire user interaction will consist of placing and moving objects in 3D space, thus delivering a native AR experience without clumsy flat UI.
