Inspiration
We took inspiration from previous community-revolved creation apps, and wanted to develop our own adaptation.
What it does
The app gives users a random topic or thing to draw a picture of, then opens a blank canvas for them to draw it on. Once the user is finished, they're able to press a button that tweets their drawing and the drawing's topic from the app's Twitter account (@ConStation).
How we built it
We built most of the app with a mix of Java and XML in Android Studio. We used multiple libraries including Twitter4J, a Twitter library, and Grav, an animation library. In addition to programming, we created an animation on the main menu using Blender to 3D model an Earth.
Challenges we ran into
One of the biggest challenges was balancing our ideas with the amount of time we had. It reached points where we had to cut features or not make the app as polished as we would've liked.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're very proud of creating a fully-functioning app that works the way we initially intended with few features cut. We feel that certain aspects of the app are very polished for the time given.
What we learned
We learned how to use the Twitter4J and Grav libraries, and how to use Blender better.
What's next for Constellation Station
We plan to polish the app further and work on making it more efficient by optimizing performance.
