Inspiration

Consilia is Latin for "plan". Our inspiration for Consilia came from our own experiences as students from diverse universities—SJSU, UCLA, and CSUF. We often struggled to coordinate and plan outings that catered to everyone's preferences and were accessible to all. We wanted to create a solution that not only simplifies the planning process but also enhances the experience by tailoring it to each individual’s likes and location.

What it does

Consilia connects friends and facilitates outdoor adventures. Users can exchange event ideas and update their preferences within the app. Consilia utilizes AI to analyze these preferences and locations, offering tailored recommendations for group activities that align with everyone’s interests.

How we built it

We built Consilia using a combination of front-end and back-end technologies. The front-end interface was developed with React, Tailwind, Node, etc., for a responsive, user-friendly experience. On the back-end, we employed Gemini Pro, MongoDB, Express, etc., to manage data processing and API integration. AI analysis was implemented using machine learning algorithms to predict and suggest activities based on user input and preferences.

Challenges we ran into

Our challenges were numerous. We faced issues in connect our database, configure our packages, gathering user inputs, and infinite other items. Ensuring real-time synchronization of preferences among group members also presented difficulties, particularly when dealing with varying network conditions.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are particularly proud of developing a functional AI that accurately understands and predicts user preferences. Additionally, creating a seamless, intuitive user interface that facilitates easy navigation and interaction stands out as a significant accomplishment for our team.

What we learned

Throughout this project, we learned about the complexities of AI implementation in real-world applications. We gained insights into effective team collaboration across different universities and how to manage a project. All of us were able to work on new technologies that we hadn't explored yet, and learnt to collaborate and organize meaningfully under the timeline.

What's next for Consilia

Looking forward, we plan to expand Consilia’s features to include more diverse event types and incorporate real-time location-based services to suggest events happening nearby. We also aim to refine our AI’s predictive capabilities and explore partnerships with event organizers and local businesses to offer exclusive deals to our users.
