Inspiration

Informed consent in healthcare — especially for surgery — is often rushed, misunderstood, and inconsistently documented. Patients sign forms they don’t fully understand. Providers carry the legal risk. There's no verifiable audit trail. ConsentX was created to solve this. It delivers intelligent, secure, patient-friendly consent management through:

  • AI-powered comprehension support
  • Mobile-first workflows
  • Blockchain-backed consent records

What it does

ConsentX and MyConsent work together to provide:

  • ConsentX (Admin Portal): For hospitals to issue, track, and audit surgical consents
  • MyConsent (Mobile App): For patients to understand, verify, and sign consents securely

Key features:

  • Smart consent templates (e.g. arthroscopic knee surgery)
  • AI -powered consent explanation
  • Patient comprehension checking with scenario-specific questions
  • Multi-factor identity verification
  • Digital signature with blockchain-backed consent record.
  • Seamless provider → patient → record workflow

Demo Mode (Hackathon Showcase)

  • Fully simulated 13-step end-to-end workflow
  • Real medical use case: Dr. Rodriguez using ConsentX & patient Sarah Johnson using MyConsent
  • Steps: Org → Notify → Verify → Review → Sign → Blockchain
  • Includes visual progress tracker, speed control, and AI interaction

How we built it

  • Bolt.new for app prototyping
  • React NativeScript for the MyConsent mobile UI
  • GPT-4 powered AI assistant mockups
  • Simulated blockchain integration (Ethereum-style hashes)
  • ElevenLabs for demo voiceover
  • UI demo with Tailwind-style components in Bolt.new
  • JSON-based simulated backend (MVP mode)

Challenges we ran into

  • Adapting Tailwind styles in NativeScript
  • Navigating multi-screen routing in React NativeScript
  • Demoing full-stack interactions without a live backend
  • Making AI comprehension simulation both smart and fast

Accomplishments we’re proud of

  • Built a working dual-interface prototype (admin + patient)
  • Simulated a real-world surgical consent journey
  • Combined AI, blockchain, and UX into a cohesive experience
  • Designed an enterprise-grade flow that’s usable and demo-ready
  • Doing all this in 2 weeks by myself using Bolt.new

What's next for ConsentX

  • Add full backend + data layer
  • Deploy AI comprehension engine
  • Blockchain write layer
  • EHR integration (Epic, Cerner APIs)
  • Multi-language patient support
  • Accessibility support (literacy, dyslexia, visually impaired etc)
  • Telehealth & remote consent features
  • Compliance automation (HIPAA, GDPR)
  • Clinical trial or sandbox validation

Well that was intense. I only started using Bolt.new about a week ago whene I got a renewed passion to build that app I always wanted to make. I played for a few days seeing something about a Hackathon. On Friday 27th June I finally took real notice ... I thought surely, I can't get anything ready for an entry. Well get it ready I did! Yes it is a prototype ... but it is highly functional. The video is probably a bit meh ... but it is the first time I have made one and uploaded to youtube ... and again all done in a few hours. Not sure if this story is #inspirational but it certainly goes to show how a coding numpty like me can use the power of Bolt.new AI to build an idea into a functional application. My journey does not end here regardless of the outcome. I have paid for Bolt.new pro and will continue to refine my ideas, build in the back-end database, add the blockchain and get a true conversational AI running.
