Inspiration

Current data consent models are fragmented and ineffective, leaving individuals powerless over how their data is used. ConsentChain was born from the vision of empowering people to own and control their digital footprint with cryptographic trust and decentralized verification.

What it does

ConsentChain enables users to grant, audit, and revoke consent for their personal data usage across multiple apps and services through a decentralized ledger. Every consent action is immutably recorded on the Algorand blockchain, creating an auditable and transparent trail. Companies and verifiers can instantly validate consent status, enhancing privacy compliance and trust without sacrificing user experience.

How we built it

From a manifesto prompt to a revolutionary MVP, we leveraged Algorand’s blockchain to record consent metadata securely and immutably. The frontend integrates with Pera Wallet to handle user decentralized identities and signature-based consent transactions. Smart contracts automate consent lifecycle enforcement, while IPFS stores encrypted off-chain data references. The user interface is designed for clarity and ease of use, emphasizing transparency and control.

Challenges we ran into

The main challenges lie ahead with company integration and adoption of the solution. This path is clear for advancing freedom and integrity. Educating users about blockchain’s role without overwhelming them remains an ongoing task.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We successfully created a functional MVP that demonstrates secure, blockchain-backed data consent lifecycle management in real time.

What we learned

We learned that blockchain is a game changer and a revolutionary force across a diverse spectrum shaping the internet of tomorrow. Most importantly, we confirmed that privacy and transparency can coexist with proper cryptographic design.

What's next for ConsentChain

Next, we plan to expand integrations with real-world applications and platforms by building SDKs and APIs for easy adoption. We aim to enhance consent granularity and policy automation using advanced smart contracts. User onboarding and education tools will be developed to drive adoption. Finally, we will explore partnerships with regulators and privacy advocates to promote decentralized consent as a new standard.
