Today, more than ever, the education landscape is iterating rapidly. The future of education requires students to adapt quickly and learn new tooling on the fly, so they may be employable once they step into the workforce. With these increasing demands it's easy to become overwhelmed as a student, as all on our team can relate to personally.

With that in mind we created a new tool called Promptlab. LLMs are the latest change sweeping education, seemingly permeating into every domain and industry. Promptlab gives students the tools they need to leverage LLMs to their full extent as they have to learn the brand new skill of prompt engineering. Through practical feedback and gamification users will learn to structure requests best suited to a generative AI model.

Users interact with Promptlab just like any other LLM. On top of the request Promptlab includes a prompt to return feedback along with the answer to the user's request. We structured feedback to users of ChatGPT in three, user friendly categories: clarity, scope, and improvement.

Clarity; how comprehensible was the request?
Scope; was it too big of a request?
Improvement; tips for the next request.

Comparing prompt engineering to internet searching, they both overlap in similar, necessary skills to master. Like the use of relevant keywords and boolean logic (“and”, “or”, “not”). But prompt engineering is more personalized. Though not just because of information delivered in the second-person, instead of a list of external resources. A generative AI model can fulfill criteria, contexts, and objectives directly; generating new content, instead of referring a user to existing content.
