Inspiration

Over the past year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, classes switched to an online remote setting. Making both students and teachers feel disconnected, through augmented and virtual reality environment, we plan to take the classroom and reconnect teachers and students.

What it does

ConnectVR is our the virtual reality education space, it will allow teachers to teach students directly as if they were in person. Allowing video and blackboard use; and for fun, students can customize their avatars.

How we built it

With the use of echoAR, we began to design a way for students to use VR to experience a in-person educational experience virtually to increase attendance and engagement. Through the use of echoAr’s library of 3D objects, we were able to simulate a classroom.

We then took our AR created classroom, and began to code in Unity. We want to create an environment similar to VR video games, but in an academic setting, so that the students can immerse themselves into the class. Increasing attendance and engagement.

Challenges we ran into

During the development stage in echoAR, we had difficulties scaling moving objects individually and controlling their sizes. However, we fix this and create the two different classroom setting that are on the right.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Never giving up, trying new coding languages and systems like echoAR, Unity, VisualStudio Code by Microsoft, and Brackets, as well as publishing a website with very cool visual designs!!

What we learned

We learned that we are very capable of learning new development systems in mere hours, which is INCREDIBLE! We are extremely proud of the product we created. We learned new design techniques, coding languages, and how to create a pretty cool product.

What's next for ConnectVR

We hope to continue to improve our website by using a hosting system to connect our domain name that we secured!
