Inspiration
We live in a world of exponentially evolving technology, which often reduces people's ability to socialize. Whether you are walking around in public, attending events alone, or even in a group, starting a conversation with new people can be challenging. You might pass by someone who could be your possible soulmate or best friend without ever knowing it. ConnectTags creates opportunities and increases the chances of building those connections
What it does
ConnectTags creates a personalized profile based on your description, including a two-sentence summary of yourself and an AI-generated image based on your interests. Instead of a bland ID card with just your picture, you'll wear an ID card with an eye-catching image that can be seen from across the room. If you spot an ID image that interests you, chances are the person has similar hobbies, making it easier to start a conversation. Many potential friendships are missed because you don't know what that stranger is into
How we built it
We used the input from the user and summarized it with Cohere's API and then asked the user for another input for the stable diffusion pipeline, and after requesting those information, in the frontend, we place those data into the layout we made.
Challenges we ran into
There was a lot of dependency issues and learning new tools to incorporate into the project. As coders with no fullstack experience, finding out how the tools work with each other was hard. Learning what tools was even out there was harder. Then finding out which ones to connect and which ones can't and everything was a mess!
Accomplishments that we're proud of
First time hackathons are a new experience, that in itself is an accomplishment. We are proud to have a much clearer understanding of how fullstack development works and working with a team.
What we learned
We learned how fullstack applications works to a degree, although we suck at implementing certain aspects. Learnt more about github version control and the time it takes to build something. It was also an incentive to learn something new and meet new people.
What's next for ConnectTags
This project is highly scalable, with the possibility of adding a QR code to the ID badge for accessing a personalized profile. Instead of asking for contact information directly, you can scan the QR code to learn more about the person's hobbies. Additionally, we could enhance functionality with features like radius tracking, training our own AI models to improve image quality, and overall product optimization
