Inspiration
Before COVID-19, it was easier for students to meet new people and forge new connections through chance meetings or spontaneous conversations. Now, any interactions have to be pre-arranged, which isn't very conducive to forging new meaningful connections. As students ourselves, we've experienced this firsthand. So, we've chosen to create ConnectR, a platform that provides students a simple, quick way to meet new like-minded individuals and make new friends and connections.
How it Works
ConnectR is a website that aims to connect students with other students or university student members all around the world. Both parties can leave their name, contact information, and their interests; everyone is encouraged to explore the page and reach out to others.
How we Created the Website
The ConnectR website was created using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. We applied flexboxes demonstrated in the Intro to HTML/CSS workshop. Codepen.io was used as the coding platform.
Challenges we have Encountered
Although our team members each have diverse skillsets of our own, our limited coding skills are a challenge in itself. Without experience in the different coding languages, many features that we wanted to implement were very difficult.
What we Learned/Accomplished
After attending multiple workshops, we've learned many useful skills and incorporated them into our project. This was a great learning experience for everyone :)
