Inspiration
Foster youth struggle to get the contacts they need when they need it. Additionally, they need to be updated when their contacts change during the process of reunification.
What it does
ConnectMe provides a single phone number for a Foster Youth to call to get the contact of her social worker, her attorney, and more. Eventually, we hope to provide Foster Youth updates that let them know that their details to their profile have changed and they should call to learn about those changes and what to do.
How I built it
Using React and wit.ai.

The team only worked until Friday at 6PM.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
In limited time, the team learned and built empathy for the complexities of the reunification processes and the milestones that must be met. We also learned about the limitations currently within the data and came up with an initial MVP that could immediately serve the Foster Youth with a plan for a viable next iteration.
What I learned
The reunification process is time sensitive with required court orders that must be met. Foster youth need to make these court orders and must remain informed an connected along the way. The best way to do this is to make it easy for them to connect to their information regardless of internet access.
What's next for ConnectMe
After giving the Foster Youth their needed publicly available information of their contacts, we would like to start sending the youth updates when that information changes either through text, email, or notifying them when they directly call our dedicated number.
