Inspiration

The elderly are more and more isolated because of COVID and we created this application to help them communicate.

It connects elderly or anyone who wants to talk with volunteers.

We used Flutter and Firebase for the application and Squarespace for the website.

Firebase wasn't cooperating in some parts, and we had a tough time mastering newer languages like Flutter and earlier, React.

We gotten close to finishing an MVP, and as first or second time hackathoners, that's a good start.

Time management is key, and also create mini prototypes to make it easier to conduct feasibility tests.

More robust usage of Firebase, training ML algorithm to predict when most volunteers should be present on the application.

I did the front end in flutter and dart. Also I did the design of the app. I also explained how the app works.

I worked on the back-end part of the application. It was my first time using Flutter/Dart and Firebase too, so it was quite an uphill challenge. I enjoyed it though, and I learned a little bit about how cloud-based softwares work and I kind of understand how to create one of my own.
