We are both freshmen at UC Berkeley, and we quickly realized that being surrounded by thousands of students does not automatically mean finding meaningful connections is easy. Berkeley brings together students from vastly different cities, socioeconomic backgrounds, races, cultures, identities, interests, and life experiences. While that diversity is one of Berkeley’s greatest strengths, it can also make the social environment feel overwhelming.

As freshmen, we’ve personally experienced the difficulty of figuring out who we naturally connect with, where to find those people, and how to turn a quick interaction into an actual friendship. Existing social platforms can help students meet people, but they often rely on profiles, photos, or surface-level interests. We wanted to explore a way to connect people based on how they actually think, behave, and navigate situations.
