Inspiration

The idea came from witnessing a quiet, powerful moment: a friend closed a notebook after writing, simply saying, "I feel better now." That act of release — silent and private — sparked a thought:

What if others could do the same? What if we could connect those invisible moments of emotion in a gentle, anonymous way?
That’s how Connected Emotion Notebook was born — to help people feel seen, without needing to be visible.

What it does

It’s a simple physical notebook placed in a real space (a table, room, or public area), with a nearby link to a minimalist website. People can write how they feel in the notebook, then visit the link to read or share emotions online — anonymously. It creates a silent bridge between the physical act of release and a digital space of shared humanity.

How we built it

We placed a real notebook in a calm, visible space.

We designed a lightweight website with: A feed of anonymous emotional messages; A soft input form to share your own; A gentle, pressure-free interface (pastel tones, large text, no usernames); A short URL is printed beside the notebook to invite participation without requiring any app or login.

Challenges we ran into

-Making the experience deep but not intrusive; -Balancing technology with emotion, without turning it into a product; -Designing something that feels safe and real in a world full of noise; -Encouraging sincerity in an anonymous space.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

-Creating a project that lets people express something they often keep inside; -Blending physical and digital interaction in a truly human way; -Receiving heartfelt, anonymous posts that prove how much people need simple emotional spaces; -Seeing people smile softly after reading someone else’s emotion — and realizing: me too.

What we learned

-Emotion doesn’t need noise, it needs space;
-People are more willing to share when there’s no pressure to perform;
-That the internet can still be a place for softness and presence — when we design it that way;
-That a tiny idea, with care and calm, can mean a lot to someone you’ll never meet.

What's next for Connected-Emotion-Notebook

-Deploying it in more places: schools, cafés, libraries, student spaces; -Adding simple filters to the website (mood, theme, season); -Printing themed notebooks for special places (grief centers, hospitals, art galleries); -Creating a version for private use: a notebook at home, synced with a personal digital diary; -Opening the code and toolkit so anyone can build their own version, anywhere;
