Abstract
Connect4 is a board game that two players play, by dropping counters into columns. The first person to make four in a row in the horizontal, vertical or diagonal directions wins. We wish to implement this by using two Arduino boards. One Arduino will be connected to a breadboard containing three buttons. The rightmost button will move the players counter to the right, the leftmost will move it to the left, and the middle button will drop the counter into the column. The game-board will be made out of an LED grid connected to an Arduino. The LED grid lights up with different colors to show the positions of each of the player's counters. The buttons will communicate with the LED grid through Bluetooth and we also plan to have a tally of which player won through Wifi. All the game logic will be programmed, including checking if a player has won after each turn, and changing the color of the counter after a particular player plays.
By the first deadline we plan to have the game logic working, without the IOT components. Therefore, we will connect our buttons and the LED to a singular Arduino and have a working model. By the final deadline, we will implement IOT as well.
