Inspiration

We were inspired by the current state of the pandemic and how human connection is very limited lately. We took the parts we liked from other online networking sites and applications and combined into our own project.

What it does

Connect 4 asks users to input their name and interests in order to then pair up users based on the interest they chose from the drop down menu. This is done so that they can be paired up with other users to chat with that share the same interest.

How we built it

We used HTML and JavaScript to code how the website looks as well as its functionality. We then used Firebase to help collect and store the data from the users.

Challenges we ran into

While our team has some experience with HTML, we were very new to JavaScript and Firebase. However, we learned a lot during this project.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are super proud of our success with using Firebase in our project. We are also happy that we gained new experience with JavaScript.

What we learned

We learned how powerful Firebase is as a resource and how much work goes into developing social networks.

What's next for Connect 4

We hope to implement a chat feature that recommends topics to talk about based on the shared interest of the users!
