Inspiration

What we noticed is that in underprivileged communities like the ones we live in, it is difficult to find a place of belonging. This is a problem, especially in communities like ours because it creates communities that feel even more separated from the rest of the world.

What it does

It allows users in underserved communities to find their place of belonging. They can do this through an online forum and an event calendar to which other users can post.

How we built it

We built it using nextJS and used Tailwind. We also used components from shadcn. We used firebase as our database and authentication service. We called information from firebase using api keys and referencing the information in the database throughout the program.

Challenges we ran into

Designing the landing page/working with realtime database

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Realtime database, implementing toast notifications, the calendar, and navbar

What we learned

We expanded our knowledge with nextJS, tailwind, firebase, shadcn/programming an app in a week is difficult

What's next for Connect

Develop a more interactive forum page, have a updated landing page, work on profile page and forum page
