Inspiration

In our busy and messed up lives, we often forget that we have friends and family who actually care about us. To make sure you stay in touch with them atleast one person needs to make efforts. It could just be a simple "Hi" or a "Hello" message from them that keeps the relationship going. Since we are humans and seldom forget, we can instead have an app remind us about our loved ones and send them a message atleast once a month. There are people who find it really hard to remember birthdays, and there are few people who want their friends and family to wish them to keep them happy on their special day. So ConnectNow can send a sweet birthday message for you to keep both the birthday person and the other happy.

What it does

ConnectNow is a website that provides 3 services to its customers. Firstly you can add your friends and family in our scheduled messaging service which keeps sending them messages atleast once in a month. Secondly, you can add your dear one's birthdays to get reminded and for a personalised Birthday message from Connect Now.

How we built it

Our website is built using basic HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, and Javascript. The app is a flask app which periodically calls the functions for the services to run. The entire website is hosted on google cloud on a google kubernetes engine (GKE) cluster.

Challenges we ran into

Finalising on a real world problem and finding an optimal solution to it.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Quickly ramped up on new tech stack to provide a solution and implement it. (For eg: twilio)

What we learned

We learnt new tech stack like twilio

What's next for Connect Now

Integrating with more tools to get the best out of the app. Having in-house AI message generator, sentiment analysis of the chats, linking it with calendar app for fetching bdays so you don't need to enter it manualy, tasks can be fetched from the calendar app to detect if the person is going through a rough day to send motivational quotes.
