Inspiration
Connect Four, Fortnite, Candy Crush, The Good Webkinz Games (not SPREE! to the mall. We were uninspired by SPREE! to the mall.)
What it does
Play connect four... but instead of winning when you connect four, you score! Chain up points until the board fills up or the clock runs out. Drop 'em right, and you might even be able to connect five?! Or six?!?! God forbid seven...
How we built it
Plain old Javascript and HTML, utilizing the p5 library. We did it locally (i.e. not on the p5 site editor).
Challenges we ran into
Github kept eating our files and wouldn't give them back, no matter how hard we begged. We also struggled a lot with scope and focus... A lot of time was burnt chasing rabbits that lead nowhere. Learning how JavaScript works was its own battle!
Accomplishments that we're proud of
It works! We opted to have fun over make something dazzling, and that resulted in all three of us getting nice coding breaks for the art and music. We're happy we got so much done in so little time. Our team managed to come out the other side still enjoying p5 and JS, despite it all, which is a huge achievement.
What we learned
How to write in JavaScript! All of us were either rusty or out of our depths, and we've all come out of this feeling like we know what we're doing a bit more. It's a nice feeling. For the next 24 hours, all of us can confidently Get An Element By Id. We'll probably forget after this, though...
