Inspiration
Job search is always a daunting task and takes efforts to find out the latest and well paying Jobs from various platforms
What it does
- Connect is built on top of LinkedIn Jobs.
- Connect helps users to quickly apply to the latest entry Level software development jobs
How we built it
- We have used puppeteer the headless browser scraper for scraping jobs from LinkedIn website.
- Then we applied the magic of cheerio library to build out the jobs information into an array of jobs and finally used React JS for building the client side.
Challenges we ran into
- we have faced challenges to build the latest Jobs and didn't found a free and stable API for the Job applications.
- This eventually led us to solve the problem with using web scraping tools.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- we are extremely thankful for the hackathon as the building the project helped us to learn about the Web scraping tools.
What we learned
- We learned about Puppeteer and Cheerio on the way to implement our project.
What's next for Connect
- The current version only consists of limited number of jobs, so Automation of scraping should be scaled.
- We are going to add a new Hackathons sections to help student devs to quickly find out hackathons as well.
- Personalisation of the app for users - Track the progress of the application and saving jobs for a later time.
