Inspiration

I looked into the Atlassian Developer community to find out what Forge can be used for and started working on a simple app that used the content of a Confluence page. I found that there are a lot of people facing problems in counting the number of words and characters present on the Confluence Page. So, I built a Confluence word counter add-on which Displays the count of the number of words, characters, characters (excluding spaces) in the Confluence Page similar to the functionality provided by the Word count of Google Docs.

What it does

I built a Confluence word counter add-on which Displays the count of the number of words, characters, characters (excluding spaces) in the Confluence Page similar to the functionality provided by the Word count of Google Docs.

How we built it

I built the add-on using javascript functions, react and logic. I used some Forge tutorials to start and then moved on to analyzing the content of the Confluence page.

Challenges we ran into

Installing the required dependencies for building the forge app.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Deploying the app in production mode so that it can be used by IT Documentation writers easily.

What we learned

We learned a lot about javascript string functions and various templates for creating forge apps

What's next for Confluence Word Counter

We would very much like to make this app available to users via the Atlassian Marketplace,
