Inspiration

Attended a conference and asked the organizer how he determined where to go. His goal was to maximize attendance, but that he did not have any insight into the costs for attendees other than the room prices at the venue.

How it works

When the page is loaded it renders inputs for conference dates, and displays a input for origin city. When the form is submitted it calls Amadeus APIs LowFare Flight search Hotel search We cycle through destination cities using BOS as Origin We display top 10 least expensive cities by sum of the lowfare flight and hotel prices. A user can submit their phone number to get notifications on updates.

Challenges I ran into

Google Maps Integration Ended up using embedded. Scope Down Some showing and hiding ultimately nested within the other

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

First time using Amadeus APIs, Proud to have functioning app with Back office Calls no console errors

What I learned

Team Forming, coming up with an idea. Scoping down, interface design. How to have fun hacking at Kayak.

What's next for Conference Planner

Vary some of the hardcoded hacks we have in place. Allow the user to enter multiple origin cities (weighted averages) Show me the best times to host my conference for a given city.
