Inspiration
We wanted to create a social platform where women and non-binary have a safe space to network. Tech is a largely male-dominated field, for that reason we wanted to create a platform where minorities can find support.
What it does
Conecta is a social platform for women and nonbinary to find mentors and virtual chats connecting users with common interests and objectives. The mission is to provide a safe and empowering space for gender minorities in technology to network, regardless of experience. We strive to encourage networking and find a mentor to pursue technology and computing with more tools and support.
How we built it
It's a website created with HTML, CSS and JS.
Challenges we ran into
We have different challenges. We have experience with HTML and CSS. JavaScript for the search page was very challenging to select a job title and make the other options disappear. Next, the calendar in the user profile website was very challenging to accommodate to the structure of the page. Also, the use of GitHub was difficult because we don't have experience with the platform.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We could manage to create JS option to select the job title and the calendar to fit and work with the design.
What's next for Conecta
We would like to get this project to be a real platform. However, we don't have the experience right now.
