Inspiration
With the growing trend of smart devices, enhancing software applications or tools to utilize technologies is important. We thought of an instrument to assist students' learning in hitting the right measurements and techniques in conducting a band or an orchestra.
What it does
Conduct-like-a-Beethoven is an HTML file to demonstrate how a webpage would look like, if it were to be published to the world of internet. This calls an open source file from github.
How we built it
We used the Leap Motion Controller and Javascript to detect hand movements, creating a program that can help students learn to conduct.
Challenges we ran into
It was difficult to figure out a way to get the Leap Motion Controller to detect a sequence of hand motions as recording movements is not part of its initial design.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud that we can implement new technology into musical education.
What we learned
None us had any prior programming experience and was overwhelmed at first by the magnitude of the computer science field. There's so many languages, programs, and different ways to do tasks, but we learned enough about Javascript, CSS, Github, and Web Hosting to create this program!
What's next for Conduct like a Beethoven!
Soon we hope to be able to add more gestures to our program!
