Inspiration
We are a team of international students who have personally struggled with the remote job market in Canada.
Many remote job postings look attractive on the surface, but candidates often discover hidden problems only after spending hours applying, researching, or interviewing. Current job platforms provide listings, but they lack transparency, trust, and meaningful insights before users apply.
We wanted to create a product that helps people save time, avoid burnout, and make more informed career decisions.
That led us to build CondenseJob — an AI-powered transparency layer for remote hiring.
What It Does
CondenseJob is an AI-powered browser extension and companion platform that helps users evaluate remote jobs before applying.
When users browse platforms like Indeed or LinkedIn, CondenseJob analyzes job listings in real time and visualizes trust signals directly on the page through a color system:
- 🟢 Green = trustworthy and aligned with user preferences
- 🟡 Yellow = safe but may not match expectations
- 🔴 Red = potential scam, low transparency, or roles that may waste users’ time and energy
When users click into a job posting, CondenseJob provides:
- AI trust analysis
- scam risk detection
- Transparency insights
- Personalized match scores
- Salary competitiveness insights
- Work culture signals
- Community discussions and employee experiences
Users can also:
- Compare saved jobs side-by-side
- Connect with current or former employees
- Contribute interview or workplace insights
- Report suspicious job postings
- Build a trusted remote career network
The goal is to help users save time and reduce emotional burnout during the job search process.
How We Built It
We designed CondenseJob as both:
- a browser extension
- a companion AI-powered web platform
We used:
- User interviews to gather insights from real job seekers
- ChatGPT to help organize and refine ideas
- Figma and AI-assisted prototyping tools to design the interface
- Frontend technologies including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- AI-assisted vibe coding workflows for rapid prototyping
The platform was intentionally designed around a clean and calm user experience, making remote job analysis feel approachable instead of overwhelming.
Challenges We Ran Into
One of the biggest challenges was defining what “high-quality” actually means in remote hiring.
At first, we focused mainly on scam detection. However, we quickly realized that remote job frustration is much more complex than simply identifying fake jobs.
A role can be legitimate but still misleading, overwhelming, or poorly aligned with a candidate’s expectations.
We spent a lot of time thinking about:
- What information is truly valuable for users
- What makes a remote job feel trustworthy
- Which signals should affect AI trust scores
- How to make the extension genuinely helpful instead of overwhelming
We also carefully considered:
- What type of scoring system users would trust
- How to explain AI recommendations clearly
- How to balance AI analysis with real human experiences
Another challenge was designing the relationship between the browser extension and the companion platform:
- What should appear as quick insights inside the extension
- What should become deeper community discussions on the website
- How to encourage users and employees to contribute meaningful insights
Accomplishments That We’re Proud Of
We’re proud that CondenseJob evolved from a simple job verification idea into a more human-centered transparency ecosystem.
Some highlights include:
- Building a realistic browser extension workflow
- Creating a strong and cohesive UX direction
- Developing a community-driven transparency model
