Inspiration

Many of our peers find political discussions to be an absolute taboo. This can be explained by the extreme political polarization currently found in the United States, which is at an all-time high. We think politics should be a topic that can be freely discussed without preconceived conclusions, because we all need to work together to come up with the best solution for everyone, rather than keeping to ourselves. Thus, we set out to develop a website that can cull data to help users better understand different perspectives on various topics of their choosing.

What it does

Our website allows the user to input any form of media to be politically analyzed. It gives the logic behind the biases of the input content and proposes different viewpoints and articles related to the input content. This in-depth breakdown allows the user to come up with more informed conclusions on their topic and better understand where other people are coming from.

How we built it

Due to time and skill constraints, we took to our most valuable tools at hand, our imagination and AI. Our ideas were turned into reality using Anthropic's Claude Opus 4.6 model and some troubleshooting.

Challenges we ran into

We burned through an API key and had to get another one to keep on testing and demonstrating.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We accomplished and crafted the very thing that we envisioned to create, which is a platform for users to gain a better understanding of their peers with opposing views. Furthermore, our team gained better insight into how the programming of websites is formatted. We are now able to better manipulate programs like TypeScript!

What we learned

The biggest setback for projects that use AI is usage limits. Possible solutions to this would be to generate a database of outputs that an algorithm could call on, so the use of a large language model isn't called upon for every request.

What's next for Concorde United

Our AP Government class at school utilizes news sources that attempt to provide multiple stances on topics, but don't provide a detailed breakdown of the logic and values behind each viewpoint. We seek to share this tool that we created with our class so they can gain a greater understanding in their government research.

Also, the youtube video analysis feature does not work for our website when deployed on vercel. We plan to fix this bug in the future.
