Inspiration

Chris was looking for a concert the other night and got bombarded with the amount of options when he searched "concerts in the Bay Area". Chris had a thought why cant they just give me concert recommendations that are based on me and not just any random artist that's playing in the Bay Area?

What it does

Think Hotel Tonight, but for concerts. We combine your GPS location with your Spotify listening history, top artists, etc. to provide personalized recommendations on which band to rock out with next!

How we built it

We decided to use react native, firebase for authentication, dialog flow for the ai assistant, eventful to pull in concert data, and Spotify to get a user’s music preferences

Challenges we ran into

  • Use of cut edge technologies like Dialogflow, Expo, Google Cloud functions. As a first time hackathon attendees, we didn’t realize how challenging it is to implement new technologies while working agains time.
  • Difficulties with the APIs, poor documentation, lack of access
  • Time management

Accomplishments that we’re proud of

We were all first time hackers so this entire experience was new. We originally were working towards a wellness idea, but after about an hour worth of research we had to pivot because of dodgy API's. We rebounded in about 15 minutes and landed on Concert Tonight. For all of us being first timers, dealing with API problems, making a few pivots, and still shipping something that's viable is a huge win for us and we're proud of that!

What we learned

How to manage scope of a project Collaborating with a team in a short amount of time Delegating tasks and splitting up

What’s next for Concerts Tonight

We would like add more local concerts into our api Live results from our dialog flow chatbot Price filtering Ability to send tickets to friends Purchase tickets in
