Inspiration

The spark for Concert Connect came from our own experiences of attending concerts alone or missing out on live events simply because we couldn't find someone to go with. We noticed a gap in the market for a platform that not only connects fans with events but also with each other, fostering a community around shared musical interests.

What it does

Concert Connect is a web app that revolutionizes the way concertgoers discover events and connect with fellow fans. Users can create profiles, search for concerts based on their preferences, and join or create groups to plan attending together. It transforms the concert experience from a solitary one to a shared, social adventure.

How we built it

To bring Concert Connect to life, we leveraged the robust capabilities of Convex as our backend solution, ensuring a scalable and reliable platform for our app's data management and real-time interactions. On the frontend, we utilized React.js, a choice that enabled us to create a dynamic and responsive user interface that reacts seamlessly to user interactions. Complementing React.js, we integrated Tailwind CSS for styling, which allowed us to craft a visually appealing and intuitive design with efficiency and ease. This combination of technologies ensured that Concert Connect is not only powerful under the hood but also offers a smooth and engaging user experience.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into a couple issues with React, specifically routing and setting up some components (because we all were relatively new to React). We struggled a lot with setting up the functionality for the chat feature and were unable to do so before the deadline. So we ended up just coding out the frontend, but in the future, we'd like to get this functionality fully working

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're pretty proud of how the application came together. We included all the features we originally had planned like the option to see different concerts in the area, see who's attending the concerts and messaging them. We also like the layout of the different cards containing the concert information and how it connects the individuals who are attending each event.

What we learned

Most of us were pretty new to React so we were able to learn how to build an applications using. We also never used Convex before so we got the chance to test it out and realized how easy it is to set up the backend using it. We definitely plan on continuing to use it for future projects! It was super cool to see how React and Convex work together to make a fully functioning app.

What's next for Concert Connect

As Concert Connect evolves, we're excited to introduce a suite of features aimed at enriching your concert-going journey. Firstly, we would like to work on getting the backend fully running such as allowing users to register and having their information stored in Convex. Soon, you'll enjoy personalized concert recommendations tailored to your unique music tastes, alongside convenient event reminders to keep you on track. An enhanced event feed will ensure you're always in the loop with upcoming concerts, while integrated social sharing options make it easy to spread the word. Following your favorite artists becomes effortless, keeping you updated with their latest concert news and exclusive content. Additionally, our new poll feature will streamline group planning, allowing for a more democratic decision-making process. These updates are designed to transform Concert Connect into a more connected, personalized, and community-focused hub for all music enthusiasts.
