Inspiration
5 more minutes on your phone is never really 5 more minutes. We wanted a way to maximize studying time and stay focused, so we built Concentrack, a Pomodoro timer that actively reminds you stay on task.
What it does
Concentrack uses a Pomodoro timer to guide your studying time. If you move too far away from the device and your eyes are detected to be off task (through a camera detection system), it alerts you with a beep, helping you stay accountable and on track.
How we built it
We used an Arduino, OLED display, an ultrasonic sensor to detect your distance, a buzzer, and a camera system for alerts and distraction detection. The timer does the pomodoro timer countdown while optionally showing stats (how long you have been off task), constantly checking if you’re doing what you're supposed to. If not, it signals you to get back on task.
Challenges we ran into
Combining the computer vision code with the Arduino code proved to be difficult. Also, preventing the buzzer from buzzing every millisecond the user was detected to be off task was challenging.
