Inspiration
We couldn't figure out an idea for the hackathon for a while. So we decided to make that our idea. Our idea is to connect aspiring programmers with an idea for what computer science project to take on.
What it does
based on the preferences and skill levels of users, CS Social connects the users with projects that would be interesting or challenging to them.
How we built it
We used react on the front end with firebase on the backend.
Challenges we ran into
We spent a while trying to get firebase setup and ran into problems with async function calls.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are very proud of the comments feature that we added because we rushed it that in last minute and it worked exactly how we wanted it to.
What we learned
We need to be more prepared to set up the development environment, and we also need to push ourselves to add more features.
What's next for Computer Science Social Media
We will likely add more robust descriptions and add a way to change skills and interests.
