Why
I saw an area that wasn't covered by JIRA or other plugins. It seemed like a good area to develop a plugin for.
What does it do
This plugin allows you to watch Issues based on the components you are interested in. You specify components (and other optional search criteria) in one central location for each project. No need to watch individual Issues.
How I built it
I built the plugin using Java, Eclipse and Google App Engine
Challenges
Making suring that the in JIRA display that polls that server would not put too much of a load on the server. Allow for multiple languages where the user is able to modify an existing language or to add another language.
What Next
Get some feedback from the end users to identify areas or features that are lacking
