Team Breakdown @historicallyhidden (Nyca) Nyca brought creativity and enthusiasm to the project, contributing ideas during brainstorming and helping shape the user experience. She was actively involved in writing and styling pages, and she especially enjoyed exploring new CSS techniques. @caroline.png (Caroline) Caroline coordinated the team, created design mockups, and reviewed code for bugs and cleanliness. She enjoyed helping everyone find a part of the project they were excited about and had a lot of fun creating the mockup. @venusss0.0 (Summer) Summer contributed to both the planning and implementation stages of the project. She helped write JavaScript functionality and worked on making the interface feel more interactive. She enjoyed seeing her code come to life and learned how small changes in logic could significantly impact the user experience. @tia3478 (Tina) Tina created all of the hand-drawn and illustrated elements featured on the site, giving the project a unique and playful personality. She also helped develop the color palette and visual style. Through the process, Tina enjoyed seeing her artwork integrated into the site and learned how design choices can guide the user experience. @.sugar_cube (Elisa) Elisa wrote the compliments featured in the generator and created the video used in the project submission. She also wrote the script and helped direct the video production. She enjoyed shaping the voice and tone of the project and learned how to create cohesive messaging across different media.

The Process We started by brainstorming ideas as a group, voting on what we felt represented us as a whole. Once we landed on the idea of a compliment generator, we sketched out a mockup and mapped the user flow to keep things simple and easy to start writing code. From there, each team member took on a role and brought the project to life with their own unique skillset.

What does it do? Our project is a Compliment Generator, allowing users to choose the vibe of kindness they need: confidence, silly, or wholesome, depending on their mood. Once they make a selection, a handpicked compliment is randomly displayed, based on a large list of compliments written by humans, in the hope of brightening their day.

What inspired it? We wanted to make something that spreads positivity in a world of fear and uncertainty, especially for those in the computer science field (thanks to A.I.). Each team member brought their unique skill into this project - and we had a lot of fun coming up with ideas and bringing our creative minds together, producing something that reflects all of us.

What technologies did you use? We used HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to build a fully functional web app, along with GitHub for collaboration and version control. Visual Studio Code and JetBrains IDEs helped all of us maintain the code and see what we were all working on! For art, we used Pixilart to add to our app.

*Which track are you submitting to? * ✨ Make Anything, But Make it YOU This project is unapologetically us: creative, kind, a little goofy, and filled with love. From silly and sweet compliments to hand-drawn details, everything you see is carefully crafted by our team.
