💡 Inspiration

As a college student, balancing assignments, lectures, examinations, and personal learning can quickly become overwhelming. Important deadlines can get lost among multiple tasks, and deciding what to work on next is not always easy.

That inspired us to envision CampusPilot AI — a student productivity assistant designed to make academic life more organized, manageable, and less stressful.

Our goal is simple: help students spend less time organizing their workload and more time learning.

🚀 What It Does

CampusPilot AI aims to bring essential student productivity features into one place:

  • Task Management: Add, view, and complete academic tasks.
  • Deadline Tracking: Keep upcoming assignments and examinations visible.
  • Study Planning: Organize pending work into a more manageable schedule.
  • AI-Assisted Interaction: Use natural-language requests to interact with supported productivity tools.
  • Progress Monitoring: Track completed tasks and understand what remains.

🛠️ How We Built It

Our planned architecture combines a lightweight web interface with a Python backend and persistent task storage.

The proposed technology stack includes:

  • HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for the user interface.
  • Python for backend logic.
  • Model Context Protocol (MCP) to expose task-management capabilities as tools.
  • SQLite to store tasks and their associated deadlines.

The idea is to make the assistant do more than provide suggestions: it should be able to perform supported actions, such as adding a task or retrieving a student's pending work.

🧠 What We Learned

This project is an opportunity to explore how modern AI applications connect user interfaces, backend services, structured data, and tool-based interactions.

We aim to strengthen our understanding of API design, database operations, MCP integration, software architecture, debugging, and building a usable product from an initial idea.

⚡ Challenges

One of our main challenges is keeping the scope achievable while building something genuinely useful. Connecting an assistant to reliable task-management tools also requires careful handling of inputs, deadlines, errors, and saved data.

As a student-led project, we are approaching these challenges incrementally: prioritizing a working core, testing each feature, and improving the user experience as the application develops.

🌱 What's Next?

We envision CampusPilot AI growing into a more complete student companion, with smarter study scheduling, personalized productivity insights, and additional integrations where practical.
