Project Overview: Compassion Care Network for the Elderly

Inspiration: The project draws its inspiration from the challenges faced by the elderly in Kenya, particularly influenced by personal experiences, including the journey of my grandmother in Baringo County. Observing the struggle for adequate care, the diminishing communal support, and the isolation faced by many elderly individuals highlighted the necessity for a more comprehensive and compassionate approach to elderly care.

Learnings: Throughout the project, I learned the significance of empathy and innovation in addressing societal needs. Understanding the specific requirements of the elderly population, along with the importance of integrating technology and human-centric caregiving, became clear.

Project Development: The project, Compassion Care Network, evolved through meticulous research, engaging with the elderly community, and collaborating with experts in healthcare and technology. It involved developing a multifaceted care model, establishing a website for resource dissemination, and introducing a specialized smartwatch for elderly health monitoring.

Challenges Faced: Numerous challenges surfaced, notably in securing sustainable funding, technological complexities in smartwatch development, and community acceptance of new approaches. Overcoming these hurdles necessitated strategic planning, innovative problem-solving, and fostering community engagement.

The Compassion Care Network aspires to revolutionize elderly care in Kenya, emphasizing dignity, holistic support, and technological innovation to enhance the quality of life for the elderly population.
