Inspiration
Every company brain demo answers questions. Few answer the harder one: who is allowed to know this? I wanted a brain where access is the product, not an afterthought.
What it does
- Four rings: company core (everyone), department core (everyone), department internal (team only), private (author only, no CEO exception).
- Ingestion: drop any document. It gets parsed, facts are extracted with quotes, and a rule table plus AI decides department and who may read it. The brain always says why.
- Retrieval: a permission filter runs before search. If you can't see it, you get "talk to ", never a hint of what exists.
- Whose word wins: conflicting facts are resolved by owner and date.
- Leads approve: only leads can promote knowledge into the core, so an overzealous intern can't change what everyone sees.
- MBA Brain: 1,000+ curated business frameworks everyone can use, so AI answers come from curated knowledge, not general training data. Try it yourself at ask-vault.com
How I built it
Python brain (MCP server, access layer, meaning + keyword search), a Next.js/NestJS app, and a canvas visualization. Built in one evening by four parallel AI agent lanes (data, app, viz, demo) coordinated by an orchestrator agent.
Challenges
claude.ai custom connectors currently fail for servers without a login (a known claude.ai issue), so the live demo used ChatGPT.
