Inspiration

The spark for CommuRide originated from a dual concern: environmental sustainability and community well-being. Observing the challenges of conventional commuting, we envisioned a carpooling platform to minimize carbon footprints and foster connections within neighborhoods, addressing both environmental impact and community connectivity.

What it does

CommuRide empowers individuals to be either riders or drivers, providing a card layout of available drivers through reverse geocoding. The application streamlines rider-driver connections, enriching the community's shared mobility experience. Utilizing React Native, Firebase, Figma, and Google Maps API, CommuRide ensures a robust and user-friendly platform.

How we built it

We brought CommuRide to life by leveraging React Native, Firebase, Figma, and the Google Maps API. The development involved creating wireframes and integrating Google Cloud Maps APIs, forming a comprehensive platform. This mix of technologies ensures a seamless and efficient experience for users.

Challenges we ran into

Challenges encompassed aspects like SMS Firebase authentication, Google Cloud API demarcation, and the implementation of reverse geocoding for precise location tracking. Overcoming these hurdles required thoughtful problem-solving and strategic decision-making.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Our accomplishments include successful Firebase query fetching, the development of a dynamic card layout adapting to changing driver availability, and addressing the complexities of real-time seat count updates. These achievements demonstrate the platform's adaptability and functionality.
