Inspiration

CommunityLend was inspired by both personal experience and my cultural background. Growing up in Congo and later studying in the United States, I noticed a common pattern: when people face financial emergencies, they often turn to their community before they turn to a bank. In many communities, trust is built through relationships, not institutions.

As a college student, I experienced moments when I did not have enough money for essential expenses such as textbooks and academic materials. The amount I needed was relatively small, but finding quick and affordable financial support was difficult. At the same time, I knew many people who faced similar challenges with transportation, utility bills, and unexpected emergencies.
