Inspiration
The United Nations sustainability development goal 8 is about decent work and economic growth. After the pandemic, many small businesses lost their key customers. We wanted to give them the power to reconnect with their community.
What it does
CommunityConnect aims to uplift local businesses within a user's geographic location.
How we built it
We utilized Flutter for both frontend and backend development. For frontend, we used the Flutter framework as well as various libraries and plugins. For backend, we built out API calls using the Flutter framework and asynchronous calls.
Challenges we ran into
We struggled with deciding on a tech stack that best suited our application and we also ran into some integration issues when it came to putting together the various components of our application.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the amount of work that we were able to accomplish given the short timeframe of 24 hours. Developing a project is a satisfying experience, but working on an application that impacts so many people and could really facilitate change is extremely gratifying.
What we learned
We learned about Flutter as a framework, Dart, and how to use APIs.
What's next for CommunityConnect
The next steps include implementing more features for users and providing ways for businesses to become more involved.
