Inspiration
I'm a big fan of the original Wordle and still play it most days. Thought a community wordle game may be fun but it had to be harder than a normal wordle to enable more guesses / participation.
What it does
The author of the post will choose a title / question along with a word or phrase for the community to guess. This could be a simple word of the day or something more community specific like the "Best baseball player of all time" or "Best 2D game ever made", etc.
As this is a simple game without many word / phrase restrictions it will work in multiple languages however the current game only has UI in english.
Reddit users are allowed one guess per post, with each guess revealing more of the solution if any of the characters from their guess are in the correct place.
How I built it
Read up on Devvit and experimented with it. I'm a solo developer on this project so I needed to keep things simple.
Challenges we ran into
Devvit is quite the closed system and the documentation did not always work exactly has described. Some trial and error was required but i'm quite happy with the result.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
It works, I think it's fun and I can see it being used in many communities.
