Social Community Robocall-Blocking incorporates a mass self-policing strategy resulting in a dynamic, Community Telephony Firewall which blocks NEW Robocalls to 98% customers before receiving them.
Caller ID, Do Not Call lists, etc. have all proven to be ineffective in the war against robocallers and telemarketers. This innovative approach is elegant, accurate and simplistic. Best of all, the technology already exists.
This approach does not rely on a customer building his own Block list which would only serve to help them "tread water" until the next call is received. But rather, it relies on the power of the social community working together to create a dynamic Community Telephony Firewall so that the rest of the 98% of the customers never actually receive the call to begin with.
The Solution:
When a robocall is received, the recipient simply hangs up and presses *F, to indicate that this number is eligible for firewalling. The (*F) results in three very important and concise actions:
1) The call is added to the Community Telephony Firewall.
2) When a pre-determined number of (*F)irewall requests are received against the number, the Community Telephony Firewall is ACTIVATED and serves as a dynamic, self policing mechanism to block that number for the other 98% of the community at large.
3) Blocked calls are re-routed to the Robo-call Recorded Hotline explaining why they have been re-routed. The recording can also provide information in case of error or emergency. There can also be an option to request placement on a "Do not block me list". (This of course requires extensive review and may or may not be adhered to) :)
Once a call has been deemed (*F)irewalled by the community at large, AT&T may choose to implement further optimizations which may include:
a) Auto-Blocking all associated numbers leased out by that telemarketing firm. (Otherwise, the customer may get another call from another extention.
b) Allowing entries on the firewall to reach the customer during specific hours.
c) Provide incentives to participate in the community firewall campaign. (e.g. if the trigger to activate the firewall is 1,000, than those 1,000 people that reported the number receive points, credits, - whatever formula is cost-effective and motivates people to participate.).
Either way, this gives the power back to the people - the people that have a right to add, create, and enforce a mass Telephony Firewall.
98% or more will never ever receive the Robocall to begin with.
Problem Solved.
