Inspiration
Our team created "Community Reach" during a hackathon to connect people in the same zip code and build stronger communities. We used HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and firebase to create a user-friendly platform for discovering local events, resources, and opportunities. We faced challenges in making it inclusive and maintaining updated information but we are proud of the final outcome.
What it does
"Community Reach" is a website that connects people within the same zip code, allowing them to discover local events, resources, and opportunities to come together and diversify. It aims to build stronger communities by providing a centralized platform for people to stay informed and engaged with their neighborhoods.
How we built it
Our team built "Community Reach" using HTML, CSS for front end, JavaScript and Firebase for the backend, Figma was used for brainstorming design ideas. Our website was designed to be user-friendly and accessible for all community members.
Challenges we ran into
- Choosing what direction we wanted to go took quite some time since everyone is new to the field of programming, project brainstorming/ management. We tried to make an Android app at first since our team did not have a solid knowledge of web design. But in the end, everyone decides to do web design since most of us have a bit of knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Connecting the backend with the front end.
- Learning how to communicate and collaborate with new people as group members
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of how our websites came out, it is the fact that each of us does not know the other but we were able to meet each other cooperate, and develop a website of our own, plus we were able to learn more about JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and Firebase.
