Our lives are busy. We want to help our community, but by the time we go through a lengthy sign up on chartiy websites process and find an opportunity to help, often far in future, it is too late. We have no more time.
Our app is aiming to provide a way to make a connection between those who need help and the people who offer help in real time.
We used Meteor framework to quickly build a website that allows users to connect to it with their facebook account.
We are extremely proud of the fact that we have build a full framework that covers sign up with facebook account, choice of what person wants to do - volunteer or receive help, has some entry forms for both volunteers who offer help and the people who need help. The person who is looking for help can lookup all available options. There is also a real-time connection that we make between these two sides: they can interact online via chat (we can extend it to emails in future).
