Inspiration: Our inspiration for this project was to raise awareness about the issue of food waste and provide a practical solution to help reduce it. With the growing concerns about food insecurity and the environmental impact of food waste, we wanted to create a tool that would encourage individuals and communities to track and reduce their food waste.
What it does: The Community Food Waste Tracker website allows users to log and track their food waste by inputting the food type and amount. The website also provides information on local food banks in England that accept food donations, to encourage users to reduce food waste by donating excess food to those in need.
How we built it: The project was built using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. We used a form to collect the user input and JavaScript to store the data in a table and display it on the website.
Challenges we ran into: One of the biggest challenges we faced was designing a user-friendly interface that would be easy to use and navigate. We also had to ensure that the website was responsive and would work on different devices and screen sizes.
Accomplishments that we're proud of: We are proud of the fact that we were able to create a functional and effective tool to help reduce food waste. We believe that this project has the potential to make a real impact and inspire others to get involved in food waste reduction efforts.
What we learned: We learned a lot about the issue of food waste and the impact it has on the environment and communities. We also learned about the importance of designing user-friendly interfaces and the challenges that come with creating responsive websites.
What's next for Food waste tracker: We plan to continue developing the website, adding new features and improving its functionality. We also hope to expand the project to other countries and make it accessible to more people.
