Inspiration: The issue of the problem of isolation in America is greater than ever. Factors such as phone addiction, post-pandemic isolation, and working after hours has caused most neighbors to be trapped inside the home. Isolation tends to become worse when citizens move into different places, feeling foreign to the new area.
What it does: Community Corner tackles the issue of isolation in communities head on by creating an all in one platform where neighbors can sign up for events, participate in a discussion board, and more.
How we built it: For how we built it: We used HTML to create code to make the website, then used Canva to make the slide presentation, and used Google Calendar to create the calendar you see on the website.
Challenges we ran into: Some of the primary challenges we ran into was implementing a functional calendar that allowed the community owners to create events for the community to view, making the discussion board have an output for the other users to see and overall efficiently executing diverse fonts into our website.
Accomplishments that we're proud of: We are mainly proud of accomplishing the challenges we ran into in the limited allocated time we were given, while also having a well responsive website.
What we learned: We learned that as long as we communicate with our teammates and our mentors we can solve any problem! From struggling with font or learning how to make manageable, aesthetic landing pages, we are now able to apply that to future projects.
What's next for Community Corner: Community Corner could potentially be used to assist in bringing communities together. Through further developing the current features, adding new ones, and implementing efficient user experience, it could definitely be an effective website!
