Inspiration

Throughout this past year and a half I've watched through various social media platforms and news articles that because of Covid restricting people from seeing one another, elderly mortality rates have increased substantially. A major contributor of that is the loneliness felt by elderly populations

What it does

The purpose of this site is to pair up elderly folks with young adults in their area as a sort of mentor relationship. As the younger folks can learn from their elders about how their life experiences was and gain some insight to how they want to plan for their future. The elderly get to have their social interactions again and maybe they would learn new things from the younger generations.

How we built it

Using my current skills in HTML and CSS and the tutorials given by Qoom, I built this project in on Qoom's platform

Challenges we ran into

I worked on this project by myself and had trouble finding time to work on it as other pressing responsibilities arose. Also when there were issues with the building process, I didn't have a group to rely on to get me through.

What we learned

I learned how to create a login system and further developed my skills in CSS.

What's next for Uplift

I hope to build this into a working site and collaborate with the elderly homes in my area to implement this and hopefully make my community feel a little less lonely.
