Inspiration

The idea for Community Care Network was born out of the urgent need to bridge the gap in accessing critical resources during emergencies and everyday challenges. By leveraging cutting-edge technology, we aimed to empower communities with instant support, resourceful connections, and inclusivity, making care more accessible to everyone.

What it does

Community Care Network is a dynamic platform that connects users with nearby resources such as NGOs, food distribution centers, shelters, and medical assistance using AI-powered mapping. It features a real-time conversational AI assistant that provides guidance during emergencies, offering empathetic, human-like interactions until professional help arrives.

How we built it

We implemented a microservices architecture for scalability and flexibility. Here's how we built each core component:

  • Smart Resource Mapping: Developed with Mapbox and powered by the Google Gemini API, enabling precise location-based recommendations.
  • Conversational AI Assistant: Built using ElevenLabs Conversational AI, Twilio, and OpenAI’s real-time API for natural and context-aware voice interactions.
  • Backend Services: Created with Node.js and Express.js to handle resource management and API integrations efficiently.
  • Frontend: Designed an intuitive user interface with React and TypeScript to ensure a seamless and accessible user experience.

Challenges we ran into

  • Real-Time Conversational AI: Fine-tuning the assistant to provide meaningful, context-aware responses for diverse user queries.
  • Mapping Precision: Ensuring accurate AI-driven resource mapping required integrating multiple APIs and resolving compatibility issues.
  • User Experience: Balancing the complexity of features with a simple, user-friendly interface demanded significant iterative design.
