Inspiration
We recognize that there is a trend of communities gradually moving online, but we believe that there is much significance to in-person communities that foster live connection and support.
What it does
Our website finds "third spaces" which are user-centric social hubs that are discovered and made by ordinary people who want connection.
How we built it
We worked both on the front-end and the back-end on VSCode in order to create our website. We also utilized a Gemini API as well as Figma to design certain visual aspects.
Challenges we ran into
We often ran into challenges with collaboration on GitHub.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are very proud of the effort we have put into our project, even through disappointing moments.
What we learned
We learned that coming up with an effective solution to a problem is more important than having complex code or UI.
What's next for CommonGround
We definitely want to implement more security measures into our website. We also want to advance scalability and work with local businesses to offer discounts.
