Inspiration
Making plans with someone new is awkward. Two people can have totally different tastes, but there is usually a hidden thing they would both love. We built Common Ground to find that thing.
What it does
Common Ground takes two people’s cultural tastes and finds their shared vibe using Qloo. It then creates a thoughtful plan a place, mood, and simple itinerary that feels more personal than “go get dinner.”
How we built it
We built a simple web app with Node.js, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Qloo powers the cultural discovery behind the app, while our agent turns that signal into a real-world plan. The Qloo key stays safely on the server.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge was avoiding generic recommendations. We wanted the result to feel like it understood the connection between two people, not just their favourite genres.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We made something that feels warm, visual, and useful not like another chatbot. We are proud that the product explains why two people might click, then gives them something real to do.
What we learned
Taste is more than a list of favourites. The interesting part is the connection between different interests, and that is where Qloo makes the agent much smarter.
What's next for Common Ground
Next we want to add live restaurants, bars, and events based on location, so users can go from a taste bridge to an actual booking.
