Inspiration

Organizations invest heavily in collaboration platforms, yet critical commitments made in meetings are still lost in transcripts, notes, and follow-up emails. According to recent industry surveys, 77% of meeting tasks are regularly forgotten due to scattered notes and a lack of accountability loops. We built CommitmentIssues to solve this exact problem by transforming meeting decisions into auditable execution.

What it does

CommitmentIssues is an execution intelligence platform that sits on top of enterprise collaboration tools. Rather than summarizing meetings or acting as a generic chatbot, it isolates explicit commitments where someone takes ownership of a specific task by a specific deadline.

Key features include:

  • Explicit Commitment Detection: Scans for ownership language (e.g., "I'll send it by Friday") while filtering out vague statements ("we should do that") to prevent false task creation.
  • Smart Commitment Cards: Displays deliverables, owners, deadlines, and source histories on an intuitive, desk-inspired interface.
  • Status Verification Stamps: Uses clear operational markers like VERIFIED, REVIEW NEEDED, and CLARIFICATION REQUIRED instead of confusing AI confidence percentages.
  • Streamlined Clarification Workflows: Automatically drafts single-click context-aware messages via Outlook, Slack, or Teams when scope or timing is uncertain.
  • Context-Aware Accountability Assistant: Proactively attaches helpful next steps (such as gathering supporting documents or drafting follow-up emails) as sticky notes to your cards.
  • Invisible Enterprise Integrations: Silently routes high-confidence commitments straight into systems like Jira, Microsoft Planner, and Google Calendar.

How we built it

We designed the application around an "Executive Desk" aesthetic inspired by physical inbox trays, index cards, and vintage office stamps to keep cognitive load low and focus entirely on follow-through and outcomes.

Challenges we ran into

  • Distinguishing between genuine, actionable commitments and casual brainstorming statements in meeting text.
  • Designing a risk and verification system that feels trustworthy and operational rather than overly algorithmic or chatbot-driven.

What we learned

We learned how critical execution intelligence is for bridging the gap between talking about work and actually delivering outcomes, emphasizing reliability and clarity over flashy AI gimmicks.
